Karen Hartwell Baker

My journey into art began about 8 years ago, with a short course at the Welsh Academy of Art. In the past two years I have been lucky enough to attend workshops with some wonderful artists: Roger Dellar, Aldo Balding, Jenny Aitken, Julian Merrow Smith and James Naughton.

I love the workshop atmosphere, where you learn not only from the tutor but from other artists. Best of all, you have given yourself all day, every day of the course, immersed in painting and this wonderful feeling has been my raison d’être for setting up the studios here.

The idea behind the retreats is to allow artists a space to focus on their own work without everyday business encroaching on painting time.
